Sculpture

image of the sculpture that I name the girl image of the sculpture that called the girl

This is a sculpture of a girl being lifted by a bird. It is unnamed, undated and was created by Tony Hillier. It currently is kept in his front garden in Cambridgeshire alongside many other steel sculptures which include a lion, a giraffe and many other characters. They are designed for the enjoyment of children as you can tell from the cartoonish features. The artist even encourages the kids to climb on them and even bang on them to see what sounds are created. As you can see, the exaggerated features are the limbs, body and hands. It is very tall and slim, maybe to give the effect of stretching as it is being lifted. It has huge feet in comparison to the legs. This is to give it a stable base.
It is made of steel and mainly shiny silver. There are also rusted elements such as the skirt and hair (these stand out and make the gender distinguishable). No movement is created as it is a snapshot of the moment the girl is about to lift off.
