Adele is the latest in the recent rise in young singer/songwriters from London and she has inevitably drawn comparisons with the likes of Amy Winehouse, Lily Allen and Kate Nash. Adele is different however, with a soulful voice to Winehouse and other greats such as Etta James and Ella Fitzgerald, she sings mature songs rooted in the highs and lows of love. She won the Critic’s Choice award at the 2008 Brits for this album, which contains the hits, ‘Chasing Pavements’ and ‘Hometown Glory’.
